LEGO Mandalorian AT-ST

Really enjoyed this build, it was a little more complicated than I thought from first glance. The detail work is quite good, especially some elementary greebling on the back, under the head chassis. I've built a few of these Chicken Walkers over the years going back all the way to the first one they ever released in 1999, and this one is by far my favorite. The touches of battle damage or sourced parts really add some great personality to the set as well.
I normally don't go in for Star Wars sets because really who wants 2345032745683 grey bricks of three shades and almost no other color? A lot of people I guess, but not me. Give me some color, some pop. In my opinion the best ships in Star Wars are the fighters and small craft, which the effects team were able to imbue with a sense of life and personality that the ugly ass Star Destroyer or Death Star just lack; again, in my opinion. The first time I saw the Death Star I just wanted someone to blow it up, and maybe thats what made it effective; looking like shit so you'd WANT to see it get rekt.
This build also gets a huge boost from the minifigs contained within. Okay, one minifig, the ever popular NEW BOBA FETT. Just kidding, Mando is all his own man. Thats right! Its The Mandalorian from the new show of the same name, a Space Western bounty hunter story with so many odes and easter eggs from the star wars extended universe you're gonna feel knee deep in Bantha Pudu by the end of it. And I mean that in a good way. The Mando figure has one of my favorite torso/leg combos ever, by the way, but I feel like the helmet is lacking something in color and style that the Boba Fett LEGO helmets have (though it is at the very least, accurate to the show)
the other figures are worthy for sure, but don't really hit the high that Mando does. Cara Dune is the saddest. She doesn't really look like the actress all that much, and her hairstyle is just the closest thing LEGO has available. That being said, it doesn't nearly match nor neatly recreate the characters undercut sort of hairstyle, and though I'm aware that LEGO isn't going to create a hairpiece for one side character, its a modern hairstyle that they need to incorporate soon, if and when they do a Sombra fig for LEGO Overwatch. So like, I'm not gonna throw a tantrum over it but...this set is fairly expensive. All I ask is to be able to make a LEGO Sombra, dammit.
Also side note, Cara Dune can beat the fuck out of me if she wants to. Anyway, that was weird!
The Hogsmen as I have come to know them are fine. They have good looking torsos that I feel are versatile and could be used not only for science fiction but fantasy as well. They fit nicely with orcs or aliens I guess. It seems to be LEGO's thing now to toss two nearly identical nearly not baddies in with a hero or two to savagely murder said baddies over and over into oblivion like all those poor video game enemies of days yore. I don't care either way, they're fine figs and can be used for many projects. Also getting shot by Mando (see below)
thanks for reading, if you did
peace out.
